The Sophisticated Drink of Choice Nowadays is the Irish Car Bomb!

Irish Car Bomb

Or, how easily offended Irish people1 like to call — “Car Bomb”.

The next time you’re at a bar, get bombed with Irish Car Bombs. They taste great and take the edge off big time.

Plus, imagine how sophisticated and “grown up” you’ll appear drinking this socially acceptable drink. People who overhear you ordering these at the bar will be mighty impressed with you. Perhaps, they’ll believe that you hob-nob with the social elite with your choice of beverage. By the way, I’m being sarcastic.

Personally, who cares what others think. I believe the Irish Car Bomb is great. It taste very much like a chocolate shake. And if you don’t believe me, you’re a Grade-A jerk.

So, if you are throwing a party soon, be it a baby shower or Rock Band party, get the following ingredients and you’ll be on your way to making the greatest drink of all time, according to OTD — the Irish Car Bomb, not just a St. Patrick’s Day drink anymore.

Irish Car Bomb Ingredients

  • 3/4 fluid ounce Irish whiskey (i.e. Jamison or Bushmills Malt)
  • 3/4 fluid ounce Irish cream liqueur (i.e. Bailey’s Irish Cream)
  • 6 fluid ounces Irish stout beer (i.e. Guinness Stout)

Other Irish Car Bomb Must Haves

  • 1 shot glass
  • 1 pint glass
  • 1 small spoon

Directions

  1. Fill half the shot glass half Irish whiskey
  2. Slowly, float (or “layer”) Irish cream over a spoon on top of the whiskey (there should be NO mixing)
  3. Pour Irish stout beer into a pint glass until it’s 1/2 full
  4. Carefully drop the shot glass into the pint glass
  5. Friggin’ drink the car bomb as quick as you can before it blows up. Basically, if you don’t drink it fast enough, the Irish Cream will curdle and the drink will start to taste weird (something I found out the hard way).

  1. A friend of mine was reprimanded by a waitress at an Irish Bar for saying “Irish Car Bomb” instead of “Car Bomb”. Which makes me wonder if Mexicans call “Mexican blankets”, “blankets”? [^]
