GENESIS Wines by Hogue Cellars
One of the admins at OfferOfTheDay.com is a Genesis wine nut-hugger1. So we decided to make Genesis wines today’s offer.
It tastes great, warms me up, and costs under $20 per bottle.

Hogue Genesis wines represent the culmination of a winemaking process that selects classic varietal wine grapes from some of the most distinctive vineyard sites in Eastern Washington state. In twenty years of winemaking in Washington the Hogue Cellars winemaking team has identified which vineyards and microclimates have the best potential to produce classic varietal wines.

Hogue Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
“Firm and chewy, with a creamy, spicy overtone to the modest berry flavors, lingering on the floral finish. Drink now through 2012.” - Wine Spectator
The Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon is what fine wines are all about. This is a spicy wine at its core with anise, clove and coffee bean accenting its bright fresh cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. It is a rich, full-bodied, expressive wine that still shows some finesse with fine, almost powdery tannins and well-integrated oak. Tobacco and black pepper linger on the finish. Pair this wine with grilled tri-tip steak, aged cheeses or dark chocolate. - www.hoguecellars.com
Hogue Genesis Merlot 2004
“The lithe, velvety style displays spicy oak, green olive and pretty blackberry and currant fruit which mingle effectively on the persistent finish. Should become a stylish red.” - Wine Spectator
The Genesis Merlot is an outstanding red wine. With generous raspberry and caramel, this warm, dense wine is a fine example of why Washington has been recognized as an exceptional Merlot-producing region. The expresses dense ripe black cherry aromatics with complexing menthol and earth tones to round it out. Pair this wine with hearty meat dishes such as a glazed rack of lamb or beef stew. It would also go well with a finely aged cheddar or marinated, grilled Portobello mushrooms. - www.hoguecellars.com
