Crockpot Chicken Adobo is DA BOMB! (recipe)
Filipino food is somewhat fattening, but extremely flavorful. If you’ve ever had food from the Philippines, then you know what we’re talking about. One very popular Filipino dish is Chicken Adobo. In order to prepare Crock-Pot Adobo, we had to slow-cook our friend Booker T, the mullet-loving chicken, but it was well worth it. He tasted great!
Sometimes, we here at OfferOfTheDay.com sit down and wonder if Lou Diamond Phillips, Rob Schneider, Julio Iglesias Jr., Vanessa Minnillo, Phoebe Cates, Toto Leonidas, Shannyn Sossamon, Vanessa Hudgens, Kirk Hammett, Chris Judd, Joey Santiago, Tia Carrere, Brandon “The Truth” Vera, Malou Nubla, that dude from Black Eyed Peas, or that chic from the Pussy Cat Dolls ever enjoy a tasty bowl of Chicken Adobo once in a while.
Well, with their busy schedules, it’s probably hard to get the time to cook this damn dish. That is why we have made the “Crock-Pot” version of Chicken Adobo available as today’s offer. By using a crockpot, you will only have about 10 minutes of prep time in making this dish.
BTW - If Andrew Cunanan1 was still alive, we would be wondering about him too.
With that said, here is a basic recipe for Crockpot Adobo: (Don’t have a Crock Pot? Check out this Rival Crock Pot.)
INGREDIENTS FOR CHICKEN ADOBO: (Makes 4-5 servings)
- 1 large sweet onion
- 6 cloves garlic (use less if you don’t like garlic)
- 3/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1 (3-lb) whole chicken cut into pieces (or 3 pounds of breasts and thighs); 10-12 drumsticks will work here as well
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon peppercorns
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
DIRECTIONS TO COOK CROCK-POT CHICKEN ADOBO:
- Slice up the onion and mince 3 cloves of garlic and place with 1 bay leaf at the bottom of the slow cooker pot
- Place the chicken in the crockpot
- In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, 3 crushed cloves of garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar
- Pour the dark and pungent mixture over the chicken meat
- Massage the mixture into the chicken meat so that it is well coated
- Throw in the 2nd bayleaf and some extra peppercorns
- Cover the crock pot and cook on LOW for 8 hours (or High for 4 hours)
- Serve over white rice
P.S. - Pork can easily be substituted in place of chicken for another popular Filipino dish called “Pork Adobo“. You can also combine chicken and pork together like I sometimes do.
